Desire, Voicemail & MMS

Does anybody know if Virgin have some sort of issue with setting up the Desire to work properly with there Voicemail and MMS (Picture messaging) services?

I've had my Desire a few months now and its beginning to get on my nerves. When these were initially set-up I was sent the set-up message (">pers: Network message") but this was recoqnised as a standard text by my phone and as such didn't actually set anything up.

The following are the results:
1) When calling voicemail (holding down 1) it goes through all the set-up blurb before giving me access to my voicemail and then sends me the set-up messages once again.

2) Picture messages are never delivered to me but instead I just get a link to the Picture Messages website as if my phone cannot handle MMS.

I have called in and had the voicemail reset a while ago but still to no avail. Am I missing something on my phone which is blocking the set-up?
