Please help! PAY AS YOU GO QUESTION

Please can some one help I have a friend who has attempted to top up with £5 on Virgin Mobile automated top up service and for some reason the top up has processed £40. To the best of my knowledge the friend is adamant they only requested a £5 top up. Is there any way to claim back the £40 instantly??

Friend is on a tight budget and now left very short in bank account.

Ring up 789 (0845 6000 789 from a landline) from the mobile and specify what has happened.

If they don;t do anything then contact the bank and specify that it's an unauthorised transfer and only £5 was authorised, they will then reclaim back the amount (any overdraft costs whilst they reclaim back the amount can be reclaimed or nullified)

Re: Please help! PAY AS YOU GO QUESTION

Tried both suggestions the bank are not interested as this was a card transaction and not DD. Virgin are saying 7-10 days for any refund. Can Virgin not refund any quicker?

My friend has checked her balance again and they have corrected her top up to £5, yet she is still out of pocket by £35.

There must be a way in which her money can be refunded sooner then 7-10 days if not today.

Re: Please help! PAY AS YOU GO QUESTION

Sorry but I've never accepted that response from the bank..

Even on a card transfer if you say that you did NOT authorise that amount then they have to take action..

But as VM is refunding then they have accepted responsibility, I wonder if they'll be the same with any costs 7/10 days is average for a refund from a corporation..

I would suggest your friend borrows the money from another friend and quickly places it in the bank, otherwise it sounds as though they'll be a squabble as to who pays any charges.. I still though say that the bank should be made to reclaim back the costs, that way any charges are negated
