You can't judge a football club by a small minority of mindless thugs, intent on attaching themselves to a football club because of their outdated, bigotted political views. Both of the big Glasgow Clubs have these eejits but are making some inroads into dealing with it.

Glasgow isn't that big a city, most people have friends and/or family who support the opposite old firm team than they do. It therefore affected most of the city at that time.

Most of the mindless thugs who show disrespect to the disaster weren't even born at the time. I was and can remember how dignified both football teams were at that time. There is always an official representation from Celtic Football Club at any memorial/dedication to those lost in the Ibrox disaster.

Well,like I say,I can't comment on anything I know nothing about.By the way I'm Prosetant/C of E.
You'll always get a minority that are bigoted in some way or another.Even a small number Evertonians taunt us about Hillsborough. And the first time we played them after Bill Shankly died there was a small minority singing Shankly's dead this went on for a few years. Also when Emlyn Hughes died some taunted us.Liverpool fans are not innocent either I can't defend their taunts about Munich etc.
Let's hope one day soon there will be no bigotry etc in football or religion and people of all faiths, creeds, and whoever they support in any sport can mix together in peace and harmony.

And it gets worse for Liverpool Carragher limps off with Achilles injury after 12 mins in the friendly with Atletico Madrid.
We will have to sign someone now with Skrtel and Agger missing the start of the season.

Not to mention they're 2-0 down to a team about a 3 or 4 weeks behind them in pre season

Re: Football : Season 2009/2010

Hi RussB, l know all about Cardiff fans, to me, no disrespect to you, but we played them in the cup, and they were evil,.(the fans that is)

We played them at The Lane, last year (i think) and it is the FIRST time l have seen the heavy mob of bill preventing us getting into the ground, Cardiff fans arrived with heavy police escort, trying to smash the windows of the coaches, trying to get involved in aggro with us, OK some Spurs hard nuts were willing to take them on, but were held back by police, BUT this was all started by Cardiff fans, and the game hadn't started yet, we were outside the ground. I cannot understand why they were doing it, please explain.

I was with my son, and l was scared for him, l have been going to The Lane for the past 35 years, and that is a first for me.

It didn't take Ballack long to start cheating did it, only on the pitch for a few minutes.

Re: Football : Season 2009/2010

Donkey's awful penalty in the FA Cup semi last season has been erased by Evra's awful attempt today. And Foster, a future England keeper? Not a chance. Truely horrendous mistakes today.

Re: Football : Season 2009/2010

I can never understand why they introduced penalties in a Charity game, they should have shared it, like before, its ok if the game was an important cup tie or something, but it is just purely a charity game.

---------- Post added at 22:49 ---------- Previous post was at 22:16 ----------

I saw the friendly game at Tottenham today, and being a yid for 30 years, l think our luck for this year is going to change, BUT first half (same old Tottenham) second half Modric, Lennon and Pav absolutley brilliant, beware the big boys.

Re: Football : Season 2009/2010

Yup, Every season. It's becoming very funny We'll see, I am never sure why Spurs consistently under-perform. My best theory is impatience, they should never have fired Jol! It seems it was annoyance at not achieving a top 4 finish that undermined him. However since then they failed to match the levels he brought them too.
