Sounds like he's teasing the media lol. My bet would be Real or Barca.

Villa has apparently said that if he were coming to England, he'd only play under Benitez. Which isn't going to happen because we have no money for the summer. I think he'd fit in more at Barca.

Re: Football Close Season Thread
More on Villa: Barca are offering 50million euros + Bojan & Caceres for Villa and Mata.
That's good business for Valencia if it happens, Bojan is class.

I keep hearing you have no cash and then £19 million appears for Johnson as if by magic, sure Pompey might owe you a few quid for Crouch + Dossena and Arbeloa will fetch a few bob to but I wouldn't write Liverpool of, I think they have a major purchase left in them without selling any key players, wouldn't surprise me to see a Tevez or a Silva sign

Re: Football Close Season Thread
Some more very good Confederations Cup games today.
Brazil 3 - 0 USA
Egypt 1 - 0 Italy
Yesterday, Group A's games were once again pretty dull, but at least an improvement on the first ones.
Spain 1 - 0 Iraq
South Africa 2 - 0 New Zealand

Unbelievable
Newcastle United are committed to paying their players a £10m bonus less than six weeks after relegation from the top flight.

Not sure whether to be pleased about this or not...

The same report says that several players will actually get pay rises this summer as the club did not insert any relegation clauses into contracts, meaning that an annual percentage pay rise will kick in despite Newcastle playing in a lower division.
DOH!

Apparently William Hill's are quoting 11/4 that Keegan leaves before the end of next season.

They have money, just not enough for a big signing imo. I doubt they could buy the likes of Tevez.

I'd say Carlitos is the most likely signing because he is owned by a company they can structure the deal anyway they want, where as most deals are spread over a couple or a few years at most, Liverpool could agree to spread it over several years by paying the company interest on the cash outstanding and give them a percentage of any future transfer fee

Arsenal have completed the signing of Belgium defender Thomas Vermaelen from Ajax in a deal worth up to £10m.

Man City have agreed a fee for Santa Cruz, so doesn't look like Tevez will go there.

It is with considerable regret that we announce that Setanta has been unable to meet their obligations. As such the existing licence agreement between us has been terminated with immediate effect."
