Re: Football : Season 2007/2008

Apparently the Lampard rumours are rubbish. Which makes sense considering that he has just lost his mother and is between the of the biggest games of his life. I'm sure contract negotiations and transfers aren't his foremost thoughts at the moment.

Meanwhile, Joey Barton has been sentenced to 6 months in prison for assault.

Quote:
Joey Barton, the Newcastle United midfielder, has been jailed for six months after admitting charges of assault and affray.

The 25-year-old was arrested in Liverpool city centre in the early hours of December 27, 2007 after a confrontation outside a McDonald's restaurant. He admitted the charges last month but reporting restrictions were only lifted today at Liverpool Crown Court, where he was sentenced.

Newcastle haven't said anything either way, although clubs have been known to stand by jailed/criminally convicted players, like with Jermaine Pennant. Plus a similar offence didn't Lee Bowyer or Johnathon Woodgate any harm long term.

Two deflections, and the ball falls at Lampards feet, no change there then.

Re: Football : Season 2007/2008

Not sure if it was the tension but I felt rather flat after the winning penalty went in, its great to win it but there has to be a better way than shoot outs. United bossed the first half but Chelsea outplayed them in the second.

Jim.
