Oh I don't know, the fewer Chelsea players on the pitch the better

And what a great way for Tevez to open his account

Re: Football : Season 2007/2008

A good win, although heavily influenced by some shocking refereeing, I don't recall VDS making a single save, United were the better team throughout, a fully deserved their win.

United deserved the win, but at one point I was getting embarrassed by some of the refereeing decisions, but still, it makes a change from the other way around I suppose

Yes, it was nice to see United getting the benefit of all the decisions, as opposed to the benefit of all the decisions going to United.

In other news, Arsenal are now the richest club in the country. Welcome to second place, guys, in every sense.

I still cannot believe Joe Cole didn't get sent off, that tackle on Ronaldo was horrendus, more of a red card than Mikels, which was also pretty bad.

Still a good win and nice to see Chelsea back in their rightful place as a mid-table team

Well it is the first time they have topped the Premiership in almost three years,

A completely unbiased opinion of course

I take it you watched the game then ?
And you would not have wanted Chelsea to win, so, thanks for your support

Re: Football : Season 2007/2008

not sure if this was true but I read that the match day earnings at Arsenal are higher than OT even though they have a smaller capacity. Maybe they make more on the corporate side of things i'm not sure.

I know someone whose company has a box at the Emirates and they make a rather large sum of money from them. I think they charge more than any other club for their boxes.

Re: Football : Season 2007/2008

As always, there are 'Lies, Damn Lies, and Statistics'

The recent Arsenal turnover figures are for 2006/7 the last published figures for most of the top clubs, United included are for 2005/6.

It is estimated that United's will at least equal the Arsenal figure which has been achieved in no small part by unbelievably high corporate box charges, I suppose you could call it 'London weighting' extortion is more like it.

Jim.

Re: Football : Season 2007/2008

Not that much of a shock really

Under-pressure Spurs boss Martin Jol has already negotiated a £4m pay-off from White Hart Lane after accepting the board want to replace him. (Various)
