Slight difference of course in that United were a well-established (some would say the TRUE) premiership-title winning side for several years before this spending spree. Chelsea were never considered one of the big 4 (or big 5, 6, etc) before Roman turned up.
Plus I think Chelsea spent a little more than £50m

Got a feeling if any deal is done it will be a loan deal, with an actual full transfer this time next year, the problem is though, he has a playing contract with us and we don't want him to go, so unless he really wants to move, he'll still be with us next season

What no one has ever turned Man Utd down before, he has already turned Inter down and if we try hard enough we could well convince him his future lies with us, even if we just see how it goes until January, loyalty and commitment to the fans aren't alien words to this guy

Not beeing a hammer I can't say how the fans will feel if he were to leave West Ham for Man U, but considering he was almost solely responsible for you staying up, I dont think there would be too many fans moaning at him wanting to go to Man U.
I think he should say and get West Ham into Europe!

Re: Close Season Gossip & Rumour Thread
Tevez and Mascherano when they arrived were spouting about how proud they were to be playing for the hammers, how they have changed their tune now?
I hope Tevez stays, he has already cost us 5.5 million pounds in a fine alone.

He is hero worshipped and has always been a favourite even when things were tough for him, I am sure he'll always get a warm welcome when he comes back but I am not convinced he'll go, partly due to your 'getting us into Europe' line, when he first arrived he said he wanted to emulate his hero Maradona at Napoli, there is absolutely no chance of that at Man Utd, he'll just be another big fish in a big pond

I think the theory there is, "Always ask for more than you know you might get".
The premier league has thrown their case out, an abitration panel has voted against their case, and I think the High Court will follow suit, unless McCabe knows otherwise, plus the hammers have been fined 5.5 million pounds, however,
Quote:
|
The three-man arbitration panel, headed by retired High Court judge Sir Philip Otton, did not have the power to change West Ham's punishment but could have ordered a new independent commission to judge the case.
|
As one decision was not possible, but the next best thing was possible but not granted, usually means, "You are wasting your time".
The only thing I don't understand is why did West Ham withold the third party interest, when signing the Argentinians, knowing it was against the rules.
It does seem a bit suspect I have to say. Maybe Panorama should investigate

So is Davies. He certainly ****ed on us in the playoffs. Cohen and Lennon in the middle, with Perch, Clingan and McGugan as backup, with commo left and Davies right, we will walk League 1 Leeds or no Leeds.

He seems keen on the move -
Quote:
"I am a player who thrives on challenges. I went to England to triumph in the Premiership and with West Ham I have achieved that first stage.
"Now I'm ready to move on to the next stage. To be a member of Sir Alex Ferguson's squad will be absolutely spectacular. "My dream is to be an idol in English football and I can achieve this now."

There seems to be a few complications with the transfer as the Premier league are sticking their noses in but i think it will happen and it will be another excellent signing for the club
