I have an SMC7004ABR, which I think is the same as yours but without the wireless facility. How did you configure it to use the DynDNS service without the need for a computer to be running?

Here you go:

Internet Computer Naming
Have you ever wanted to be able to find and connect to your computer across the Internet, but did not want the complexity and cost of buying a domain name and using Dynamic DNS? With Windows Vista, you can using Internet Computer Naming. This section will show you how to enable the technology, and how to take advantage of it.

Well, I have to admit I can't be sure that it will work as I'm many miles away from the router with no way of getting anyone to access it for me. But before leaving I did take a screen shot of the Dynamic DNS menu option that shows that you can select DynDNS.org, and then enter your hostname, username and password for your DynDNS account. I assume that this will maintain contact with the DynDNS service.

I will try and get my (computer illiterate!) daughter to set this up and report back. But it should work!
