wlan on notebook problem...

Im not a happy bunny now people....

I was surfin on my my girlfriends laptop when about 30mins into it I got the page could not be displayed. This happend on every site I tried. It turned out my wireless card now says "disconnected" The laptop finds the wireless card, just not the wireless network

Things Ive tried...
reboot modem and router....
format laptop...
reset router to factory settings..

for what its worth Im typing this on my main rig which is wireless, so the wifi signal is fine. my psp also connects with no hassle.

all drivers on the laptop are upto date and I have tried both the ralink utillities to connect and the zero configuration tool. neither can find a signal.

helllllllllp it used to work perfect then just stopped.

Re: wlan on notebook problem...

Have you got another wireless card you can try? Sounds like a hardware problem...

Re: wlan on notebook problem...

Slyder, does your router broadcast its SSID (network name)?? also something to try is to setup an Ad-Hoc network from the machine that you know works and see if the laptop can find that.

if you use the XP tools for networking you just create a new network, otherwise use the utility of the cards and that normally is just as straight forward

Re: wlan on notebook problem...

Make sure you havent accidentally toggled a WLAN switch (if the laptop has one), thats a very common mistake.

I had no idea laptops did. Im used to that as well, as I keep knocking my psp wlan switch with my big fingers.

Turned out to be exactly that. I over looked a big silver key which looks surprisingly like a network button... Doh!

thanks all...
