Wireless cards

Hello

I need some recommendations on what wireless card to get. I need one that has a very good range because I am trying to connect to my uni network but with my current card it can only detect the uni network but not connect. When I use my sister's laptop with a built-in wireless it works fine. Any recommendations on which wireless card to get? Oh the wireless card needs to be one for a laptop. Thanks for any help

Oh and I don't mind usb ones either but from experience they are not as good...

Is that really a great deal more receptive than other wireless cards?

from reading the info on the card, maybe not unless you get the router for which it is designed...it would more than likley be slightly better than a standard card.

i guess another question to ask would be where are you accessing the wireless network from - on campus?

Re: Wireless cards

Thanks for the replies. I only have usb ports and 2 of those pcmcia slots. Not sure what a mini pci slot is but don't think I have one and there is no aerial around the screen. I am trying to access the network from my accommodation. I am not sure where it is coming from but I can connect with my sister's laptop and my friend's laptop which both have wireless built-in. So I know that it is possible to get a connection. I just want a card that will connect so I can use my own laptop. I guess I will just go out and buy some cards to try out. If they don't work I will get a refund on them but hopefully at least one will work. Just seeing if anyone here knows of any cards that are really good for range.
