Re: wifi security

I'm not sure about charts or comparisons, but essentially if your router and clients support WPA/TKIP with 'Pre-shared Key' then use it. (most modern routers will support it, esp 'G' routers). The only better security for home is WPA2 but not much supports it yet.

The old WEP security is not very secure these days - the keys can be quite easily broken.

If you are using WPA you probably don't need to worry about hiding your SSID (some might disagree, but it is very easy for a war-driver to find anyway).

Again, MAC filtering is fairly easy to overcome but probably worth setting up on your router.

Summary -

The only one that REALLY matters is WPA (Wifi Protected Access) - it's default on the Linksys routers now and XP SP2 works well with WPA.
