wrt54gs setup problems

Can anyone shed some light on how to set up a WRT54GS to a NTL home 100 modem.

I am currently using a wired linksys router ok but cannot get the WRT54gs to talk to the internet

Thanks

When you disconnect your existing router, and instead connect the ethernet cable from the modem into the WAN port of the WRT54GS you must power the modem off for 30 seconds or so, then power it on and let all the lights settle down again, before you then power up your new router, and then any PCs connected to the router.

It's easiest to start off by connecting wired a computer to the WRT54GS, to ensure you have internet and associated connections, then later go wireless.

Re: wrt54gs setup problems

Seems like quite a few people have connectivity problems due to firewalls or antivirus. Make sure those are turned off on the PC and see what happens.

Only the router (WAN port) should be connected via ethernet to the modem, there should not be any USB connection to the modem.
