Speed upgrade and router problem

I have just had the speed upgrade to 10mb and wasnt working properly, did the telewest support thing connected direct to pc from modem ran an optimizer to get speed to where it should be. all ok.1200+ kb/s

Plugged in the router (Linksys BEFSR41 v2 with latest firmware) and speed drops to 600 kb/s.

The router is a typical 10/100, is it not capable of dealing with the 10 mb line?

Suggestions and advice welcomed - thanks

Re: Speed upgrade and router problem

The WAN connection on that model router is not capable of dealing with the full 10Mb's speed

- there isn't anything you can do, apart from get a router with a 100Mb/s WAN port, sorry.

I don't use the linksys WRT54G, myself, but I understand many find it to be fine for the job, and being capable of wireless, gives you options for the future.
