Wireless on Acer Travelmate C110

Can anyone try and help me figure this out.
I'm trying to sort out a friend's laptop. It is an Acer travelmate C110.
I can get it to connect fine to the Internet via a wired connection.
The problem is with wireless. It used to work fine via a wireless router but now doesnt.

I've checked to make sure WIFI is switched on and I've togalled the button on the front to enable Wireless.

The router itself is fine as there is another PC happily talking to it with no problems.

The laptop however, refuses to pick up the network when I go to search for available wireless networks. It just searches and then reports that none are available. The wireless icon in the system tray remains with a cross in it.
I am fully in range of the router and there are no obstacles in the way.

The wireless light does light up on the side of the laptop to show it is trying to search for a network but isnt actually displaying anything.

There is no password or anything on the router which would stop it from connecting.

Anyone have any ideas ?
Thankyou

When you say there's no password etc on the router...is it broadcasting its SSID??

Re: Wireless on Acer Travelmate C110

Try adding the SSID into the 'Prefered Networks List'. It might kick it into life.

Try removing all security from the wireless network and building it up again.

Re: Wireless on Acer Travelmate C110

It must be as the other PC finds the network and connects to it easily.
It's just this laptop that's being annoying.
Strange thing is it did used to work wirelessly and seems to have just stopped for some reason.
It doesnt want to find any wireless networks.

EDIT: The name of the network is already in the preffered networks list right at the top of the list.

Re: Wireless on Acer Travelmate C110

hi halycon... if its of any use, i have a travelmate myself....i've formated it a few times in the past to do a clean install of xp pro...and lately xp mce....and have only been able to get the wireless working after installing the Acer Notebook Manager off the system cd that came with it when new...regardless of having the wireless lan drivers installed.

Re: Wireless on Acer Travelmate C110

Thanks 50420
I'll see if I can get it going with the drivers tommorow. I'l also try
looking at the Acer Notebook manager, but as far as I can remember it was all set up correctly when I last checked the manager utility.
I may try re-installing that if the drivers arent the problem.

Thanks everyone for the help. Have a good evening.

Re: Wireless on Acer Travelmate C110

Just thought I'd update everyone. The problem is solved.

It turns out that a setting or two were not set properly.
I refreshed the driver and more importantly in the Wireless drivers configuration there is a button that toggled wireless link on and off. I think that may have also confused itself with the laptop's own software on and off button that comes with this laptop.

So, I unticked the Turn off wireless signal from both parts and now all is working excellently.

Thanks to everyone that helped.
