Latest official Linksys firmware for WRT54GS (v4.0)??
Hi, Ive currently got a WRT54GS v4.0 with firmware v1.05.3, Sep. 22, 2005

I tried to get the latest firmware from linksys.com but it actually downloads the wrong file
(something beginning WTR54G )

Anyway I email linksys webmaster and linksys support. One just sent a stock reply and not acknowleging any error on the website.

The other pointed me to this

ftp://ftp.linksys.com/international/...-EU_4.50.9.zip

Which looks good. I just wanted to double check the version number here. Seems to have gone up a lot since my version in September.

Also can v4 and v5 load the same official linksys firmwares?

I know that v5 can't load most of the 3rd part ones so, conversely, I'm just a bit paranoid about whether a v4 router can load the latest linksys firmware.


I want to flash the firmware because this reportedly helps aleviate some problems caused by a combination of Linksys fw and NTL transparent proxies.

Edit: Typo. Thats a WRT54GS I have not a WRT54G
