Which Router ?

Hi,
I currently have Telewest “blueyonder� broadband connected as follows,
The signal comes from the telewest cable which comes into the house from outside, then plugs into a Motorola SB5100 surfband modem, which then connects to my PC via a USB connection.
Can you advise me what sort of wireless router (incl make and model) that will work with the above
So I can wireless enable my laptop ?.

The linksys WRT54G is a popular choice. I use it on blueyonder myself, and thoroughly recommend it.

have a look here for router recommendations- the section you need is "wireless cable routers"

To connect your pc to the router you will either need a wireless card or an ethernet card, do you have one or the other of these?

Thanks for the welcome and the quick replies, as far as im aware the pc doesnt have a wireless card.i thik it may have an ethernet card tho.
Can i not just connect the modem to the router then router to pc ?

The linksys router (like many others, I would guess) has 4 ethernet ports. Assuming your pc has an ethernet card, you can use a wired connection for that. Alternatively, you could get a wireless card for the pc.

Do you mean the device that can pick up the signal from the router ?, then if so i have a netgear USB adapter that im going to use for that, just need to know which router will be compatible with my current installation.

I'm afraid I don't quite understand. What will your usb adapter do?

No (well so few it is almost no) routers use USB. You will connect the SB5100 to the router by ethernet and then have an ethernet cable from the router to your PC, now if your widgit is an ether > USB widgit then you just use it there, but you would be better spending £2.50 on an ethernet card for your PC. They are really easy to fit and you are highly unlikely to break your PC doing so.

Thanks for the replies.
Ive opted for the netgear WGR614 as recommended by blueyonder. i will connect this to the modem via ethernet. and i will enable my laptop with a netgear USB adapter.
