Watchguard Firebox

I have a Firebox soho6tc to play with on my home connection but im not able to configure the external network correctly..

If i connect directly to the NTL modem im given:

IP: 82.11.35.X
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway:82.11.32.1

Everything is ok apart from choosing the default gateway as the firebox seems to complain that its on a different IP in the third octet.

Is it possible to configure a firewall like this on an NTL home connection?

That's a serious bit of kit for a home network, in fact I'd go so far as to say it's OTT.

Dunno why it wont work though.

I'm moving your thread to networking as I suspect it's very much a configuration setup issue, if indeed it will work on ntl

Re: Watchguard Firebox

Its way OTT i know but i got it free from work as im to learn watchguard fireboxes.

Its something to do with the 3rd octet being different im sure..trouble is you can also configure the firebox to obtain the details by DHCP but these just remain blank as if the cable modem wont assign it an IP

LOL looks like you will be learning the hard way then, does no one at work have any experience with it?

Re: Watchguard Firebox

It should be set to obtain the details by dhcp,

are you rebooting the cable modem when you are switching the device that you are connecting to it?

What do you have connected to the modem at the moment router or direct to pc?
