Wireless connection keeps dropping

Here's my set-up,I have a Motorola Surfboard SB5100 cable modem attached by an ethernet cable to a Lynksys WPC54g wireless router.

The router is connected to my main PC (Win 98SE) by another ethernet cable.

I have a Wi-Fi laptop running XP home.

I have gone through the Linksys set-up routine and both computers had a good internet connection to begin with. However after a short while the laptops connection broke and is very intermittent. The security settings are not enabled and I only use the laptop in the next room (20 ft max.).

When I use the "repair the connection" wizard it seems to take forever, and I just usually click off and even though the taskbar icon is crossed I can still get a connection for another ten minutes or so.

Any thoughts ? Thanks,John.

Re: Wireless connection keeps dropping

Try setting the wirless to use a different channel - there might be some local interference

Also, remember that if you do try switching channels, the ones that aren't overlapping are 1, 6 and 11.
