How to create a wireless network using a USB ntl cable modem

My desktop PC is connected to the internet via a USB ntl cable modem and my daughter also wants to connect her laptop, which is wireless enabled. So far I've had 3 lots of different advise, can somebady PLEASE let me know the best way to create a wireless network, bearing in mind the USB connected modem!

Unless you get a cable modem with Ethernet the best option is probably

Internet -- CM -- PC with USB modem and Ethernet card -- router -- other PCs.

You'll need to keep the PC with the CM on all the time and you'll need to use its IP as the default gateway NOT your router's.

Really you need an ethernet modem. You can't get one with a DSL modem in either, as it's cable and doesn't use the phone, and it's probably against the T/Cs to connect *other* equipment.

Your USB ntl cable modem also has the capabilty to be an ethernet cable modem.

I would suggest you buy a wireless broadband router and if your PC does not have an ethernet card, an ethernet card for your PC

Turn everything off, plug the NTL CM into the router, power up the ntl box, wait, power up the router.

Install, or connect a wire from your pc to the router, and her pc should find the wireless connection.

I use a linksys wrt54g and have had few problems, hence recommend it, there is a thread on the site recommending alternates.
