Belkin router

I have looked at all my router papers, it just a belkin 4 port cable/dsl router 10/100.

It doesn't say anything about speeds, etc. I currently use it for my PC & Xbox.

Will it work the same with the 10MB BB from NTL?

Could I easily change to a wireless router? What belkin one can I buy and what else do I need to use my Xbox in a different room to the PC and router?

Cheers

Re: Belkin router

You can always get a Wireless Access Point but that doesn't appear to be wireless. If you want, you can get a router but it needs to be called a "Wireless DSL/Cable Gateway Router" ie, one that does NOT have a modem.

If you go wireless don't forget to secure!

Re: Belkin router

Hornet,

if you can give me the details of your router (F5D52** number) then I can check to see what the max speed is of it.

Yes, it will work fine with 10Mb BB.

Yes, you could easily change to a wireless router. If you get one that has 4 wired ethernet ports like the F5D7230uk4 http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProdu...%2Etworking%2F then you can simply drop it in as a replacement for you current router and attach your PC and Xbox using your current wiring. You can then add wireless PCs or consoles (Xbox360) at a later point.

So are you saying that my F5D5230u4 would not be able to handle 10Mb BB even though it has 10/100 ethernet ports?

Re: Belkin router

Bob,

those speeds are MBPS and what NTL is offering is 10mb so that would work out to about 1200kbps so thats 1.2 mbps. so yes you would be able to use this router with the new speeds coming soon

I have this router, you should get the Belkin Wireless Access Point which plugs into a spare socket.

Me too!

But why is it that the Belkin WAP costs the same as the Belkin Wireless Router (which includes another 4 wired ports so you could replace the router at the same time for the same cost)?

Is there any reason for this? Interference?

Would there be any interference problems with my DECT telephone?
