Help please re home networking wiring

Hello I'm new to the site and if possible can anyone please help. I have installed Cat 5 e cable to socket outlets in living and bedrooms. I have taken all the cables to one point where I plan to plug into a router which will be connected to a BT line. The BT lines comes into the hall and I have run a Cat 5 cable from the BT master socket to a point where the router will be located. My plan is to extend the BT connection from the master socket to a cupboard where the router will be. Can anyone please help with the wiring arrangements. I need to know what cables I will connect to the BT master socket to extend this. Currently it has only two wires connected a blue and orange wire. Secondly how do I connect the wires that will plug into the router and connect to a face plate where I can plug an ethernet cable to get internet access for laptops, or to connect a Playststion 3. Also, is it also possible to use the same socket outlet for a phone connection?

first you should not touch the master socket
it belongs to Bt
if find out or update later to infinity an engineer will be be sent as part of the service
if he see a mess you may get in trouble
2-
if you make mistake in the connections the speed may drop or may cost trouble to the exchange
3-
if i was you i will place the modem/router closed to the master socket and then use the cat 5 to the computer no matter how far it is ... is the most advised for best option if the computer is far from the main socket
4-
maybe the money for new sockets or cables and tools you will spent be almost the same charge for BT to come and do for you

Thanks for the reply. I haven't touched any of the wiring on the BT master socket. It has a detachable front plate which I think allows for an extension from this socket. Unfortunately I can't locate the router next to the BT master socket as there is'nt a power supply there and I have already run all the Cat 5 cables throughout the building and the walls and ceilings have been plastered. Buy a readymade phone extension cable of good quality and run from master socket to router location. Job done.

Ready made phone extension cables are usually of terrible quality and you may end up losing 80% of your connection speed.

Ready made ADSL extension cables tend to be better, usually they're made of Cat 5e UTP cabling, but I prefer using my own Cat6/custom STP.

Good point, although I did mention 'good quality'. However, a splitter at the master socket and a quality ADSL extension would be the better option I agree.
