New Router upgrade from the Superhub

Hi all , just realised i've gotta get rid of this Virgin Superhub as it's not serving me right.

Can anyone suggest a good new router around 20-40 pounds which can handle several game's consoles.

Also would i have to buy a modem? Im confused as the Superhub has one built in or is this what all new routers have?

thanks again, bjc

DIR-615, as already suggested several times.

If the Superhub didn't have a modem it wouldn't be able to connect to the internet now would it?

You use a dlink615 and the superhub, you need to keep the hub as a modem

Re: New Router upgrade from the Superhub

I've also been looking around the DIR-615 on the bay to use on a temporary basis until the Cisco Linksys E4200V2 comes out here and have noticed that there are quite a few different hardware revisions of it. You have the DIR-615/E, DIR-615/VM and the list goes on. Then you also have D1-D4 and E1-E4. Is there anything any particular hardware revision we should go for and anyway we can tell? Quite a few of the sellers seem clueless about hardware revisions.

Re: New Router upgrade from the Superhub

The VMs are all D1-D4, mostly D2 or D4. They're all the same.

The E's use different chips in them and are harder to mod with custom firmware if you're not into compiling it yourself.

I'd go for the D revisions, mainly because I have twelve already. Never tried an E.

Re: New Router upgrade from the Superhub

Thanks for advice. Therefore I presume using a DIR-615/VM D2 with a SuperHub in modem mode shouldn't cause any problems, right?

Re: New Router upgrade from the Superhub

The D2 is one of the better ones. The only difference between that and the D4 is the power connector.

Mind you the D2 uses a standard 12v sized connector but actually requires 5v so don't get it mixed up with a different device's connector.
