DIR655 or VMDG280 Wireless

I had the old non wireless VM modem connected to a Dlink DIR655 wireless router, everything worked perfectly until we moved and the speed dropped and we kept losing connection.
I called out VM and the engineer found that there were 4 cables connected to the splitter going to no-where so he disconnected them, he also replaced the old VM modem with a new VMDG280 wireless router modem and unplugged my DIR655.
Can anyone tell me what is the best thing to do here:
Either leave at it is or connect my DIR on to the new vm modem and disconnect the wireless on the modem and use the DIR wireless capabilities?
i don't know what is the best router??
Your help greatly appreciated.

Re: DIR655 or VMDG280 Wireless

I've just had a new VMDG 480 superhub as i came from an Ambit 256 and 20Mb BB. I got my my DIR-655 router working with the SH (thanks to a cable forum member) as i love my router and works a treat in my house and all the way down to the end of my back garden where the garage is and i didn't want to lose that capability. I don't think the wifi on this superhub has that kind of range.

I've just received the R30 firmware update on my SH which now gives me a cable modem only capabilty (a button that switches off all the security and wireless on the SH) and it works really well.

IMHO i think you should stick to the router you've always used because it isn't broken and no doubt works well for you. It's still way better than the wireless capabilities of these Superhubs. Now that i've done mine and it worked first time, if you need help on how to hook your D-Link up to your superhub, shout!!

I had a VMDG280 with 20meg and, surprisingly, it worked faultlessly.

It was only after I upgraded to 30meg and had to swap to a superhub that the troubles started.

The only problem i had with the VMDG480 was getting it to see my router. I was told what to do about that and bingo, it worked and hasn't stopped...yet

Apparently it works well for some and but for others not so good.
