Network hard drive

Hi,

I am thinking about getting an external hdd, and was looking at the network hdd, but have a question.

Are they plug and play as in the sence, I connect it up to my router and it works, without any config settings.

It would be access by a Windows XP and Windows 7 PC.

I have an Iomega 2tb drive connected to my superhub along with a sonos soundbridge. No problems other than the automatic backup can slow web pages loading.

Simple answer is yes, they normally show up under Network devices, I say normally, as Windows 7 does sometimes not actually see some NAS's and then you have to map the drive and to do that you need to know the network path.

I have 3 network drives and windows 7 sees two of them but not the third, this is a known feature of windows 7!!!! They may well have done something to get round it now, but it has been a long time since I set mine up!!

I have a question that might help the OP.

I'm after a NAS, but I need the following:

1) Wireless
2) Be able to connect to a TV (to play media thats on it)
3) Size isn't important, but could a large NAS be partitioned?
