Connecting Blu-ray to the internet
I'd like some advice please, as don't want to go out and buy something which I don't need or is the wrong piece of equipment.
I have a Panasonic blue ray player dmp-bd60. It has an ethernet port. My panasonic TV is not internet ready but you can attach a PC or lap top to it. t
Upstairs I have my PC and new 50mb virgin broadband duel hub. I've not used this for any wireless connections yet. I've been round the internet read about Wireless N Ethernet Bridges and routers but I'm still not sure what I need to simply connect the blu ray to the internet so I can enjoy the additional features offered. I may at sometime have a lap top but that's a long way off.
Any advice would be appreciated.

The Blu-ray player doesn't actually have internet access per-se.
The Ethernet port is mainly for firmware updates, but it also supports Panasonic's BD-Live feature, which allows movies with web-enabled content (extra bonus features) to download those features.
Its not a full internet enabled device. I think you would be wasting alot of cash on a very rudimentary feature that I dont think many people would use.

I bought a LG BD570 Bli-ray player which has Wi-Fi built in.
It has on it iPlayer, Youtube, Picasa & supports streaming from a media centre PC.
The only issue I had with the Wi-Fi was positioning of the unit to get the best signal.
Updates download and install without problems.

Now that sounds like a worth while blu-ray player to buy  apart from the fact I've got a PS3 which can do most of those things

I have a blu-ray player that just has an ethernet port so just a cable required however for the dubious benefit on offer I really can't be bothered with it.

I'd imagine the blu ray players will keep coming down in price like the DVD's have, especially when 3D will be all the rage. I'll bide my time til I pick up a bargain with the specs that Hom3r described
