Subnetting Examples

I'm still struggling with subnetting, and I would like some examples that I can try to figure out, to help my understanding.

Such as:

xx amount of clients need subnetting, what subnet should be used?

Or

1-4 networks with x amount of clients in each network need subnetting using the 192.168.1.0 network.

Any help would be hugely appreciated.
