Really just means you need a second box (modem) to do the actual connection to provider where it be (A|S)DSL or cable. It doesn't have the modem bit built in.

It will work fine with ADSL but you will have to use a separate modem.
I have a linksys cable/dsl router (Wrt54GL) connected to an ADSL2+ line via a speedtouch 585v6 (which is in bridge mode)
The speedtouch is fine as a modem but as a router it's somewhat lacking hence why i have the linksys hanging off the back of it...

In which case every router will deal with ADSL/Cable, as long as you have an Ethernet out modem. I'm very aware of this already, the poster seemed to be treating them differently.

Well i bought one for under retail price. i think about £54.
So far so good. Setup was automatic.
Not sure about performance so far. Not upgraded to 10mb as in winnersh. Plus I just got a Samsung 245b 1920x1600 at same time which could be affecting COD4. Pings seem a little higher than direct to ntl 120 modem 30ms to 40ms.
Wireless signal is impressive. 3 x laptops Dell 530, Equium A200-1V0, Sony VAIO T2XP with G rating all got max signal 54mb around three level terrace house.
