LinkSys or Netgear

I've been using a linksys router now for about a year with my Virgin Media Internet.

I've not got the Netgear Router from Virgin Media as there Virgin Media Wireless package.

I was wondering if someone might give me some feedback on what router is better to use.

Re: LinkSys or Netgear

Personally speaking, every time I've tried to use a Netgear Router, I've had some issues. Ok. it's done the basics of allowing a connection, but the config of ancilliary stuff has been problematic. For example a work netgear router, despite apparently supporting VPN passthrough, didnt. Swapped to a £40 Linksys and all resolved.

That's not to say Netgear are bad, I just don't get on with them.

However in this instance, whether you prefer the VM supplied router, or your original may depend on stuff such as the wireless speeds supported by each, whether there are other toys available like QoS, or whatever.

Re: LinkSys or Netgear

My Linksys BEFSR41 (original wired version) has been going strong for about 4 years now, and it handles 20Mb just fine

Thanks for all the feedback.

I've decided to stick with my linksys and send the Netgear down to my mums so my little brother can use the Wireless for his Wii.
