Wireless PCI card or Wireless USB Adapter

Hi folks,

Just throwing out a quick question to the masses. I've just purchased a D-LINK DIR-655 router and was wondering what the general consensus was on card or adapter?

I know it probably doesn't make much difference but my PCI card has just died and I wanted to get a feel for what you all think.

Cheers,
Graeme

If you are able, I would go for the PCI card if I were you!

Re: Wireless PCI card or Wireless USB Adapter

hmm, for me the jury is out.

USB adaptor might have some flexibility in location, even if the lead is short. Stick your PC in a corner and the PCI based card might get a poor signal. However if you previously had an inbuilt card and signals were OK, then definitely stick with the dedicated hardware and don't add the complication that USB (all things to all men), needs to use some of your PC's CPU type resources just to run, whereas the dedicate card has all it needs onboard.

Hi
1. Pci card will take PCI slot in the mother Board.. and if u have 2 or 3 slots..it may be finished..
But USB adapter , is just like plug and play..when u need plug it, when u dont need u can unplug.. Or Even u can Plug it on the back of the computer always..no fear of USB slots getting over..because u can extend the USB ports from one port to 4 diff USB ports..
2. Another Major Difference is , U can not use PCI card on Laptops , BUT USB u can use on Destop and Laptop and on MAC, as well
So I feel USB Wireless Adapter is Very Good..

Thanx and regards
