Hi - My first post so apologies for any incomplete protocols.
The problem is that when we load any url name eg Google, the dns reverts to 18.104.22.168. If we load the ip address for the url it finds it. We tried ipconfig /flushdns, although that fixed it for a time, the problem has returned and the flush no longer is effective. We haven't tried loading explicit dns server ip addresses, as probably Orange in India wouldn't know what we were talking about, even if they were prepared to tell us. The issue is the same with Windows Firewall on or off (no other firewall).
We have checked the Windows XP 2 tcp/ip settings/protocols (dns auto) and they are the same as for the problem PC and this one (on a different network/router) and probably most other PCs.
We have a new Dlink wireless adsl modem router DSL-G624T, and am wondering if there is a setting within Dlink that we need to think about, can anyone tell us?
We have set up the router okay using pppoa, 0/38 - originally the adsl connection was via a speedtouch 330 usb conenction so we know the adsl line is okay.
If not does anyone have any other ideas - eg a nasty piece of virus/spyware? (scanned via AVG and adaware SE - now clean (but wasn't)
