It'll work if the ethernet on the machine worked as when I put the ethenet plug into the router from the computer, it comes up limited or no connectivity.

You're putting the ethernet into the router with the computer and router switched off?

1) Connect the computer to the router and switch on the router and let it settle.

2) Switch on the computer and you should have internet unless you've bricked the router of course or something else is wrong.

Remove all software firewalls just to make sure.

Yes, I've been doing that. It just doesn't work. I could re-do the firmware with the Linksys firmware if the ethernet cable was working!

If you connect the ethernet from the computer directly to the modem bypassing the router does it work?

So the ethernet does work then, so the routers the problem and not the ethernet. I'm guessing it's bricked if you've tried all of whats been said in this thread and nothings worked.

Don't take this the wrong way, but is everything connected up properly ?

A friend of mine called me round to hers once, because of similar problems, and she had plugged the modem into one of the Lan ports.

Modem--------> router internet port

Router Lan port-------> pc is how it should be.
