Angry AOL Broadband with NTL problem

I have a D-Link 604 router and its worked with AOL for over a year and a couple of months ago it decided to kicking me off when using it. It connects again after a while but it can be annoying. Its not the modem because I can still get on when its connected straight into the computer, but I have to use the AOL software whereas I didnt when the router worked perfectly. I've looked up settings on AOL and D-Link but they don't work, their settings are for pppoe and DHCP, but it still doesnt work. I've tried resetting it and put the settings back in but still no luck, can someone help me by telling me the correct settings if possible or tell me a router that would work with my modem and connection with no problem?

Re: AOL Broadband with NTL problem

do you lose sync to the router? if so then it could be the modem in there. If not then try setting yoru MTU value to 1400 instead of default 1500. In theory once the modem is stable ie without the router you could set up a new internet connection and click broadband and select the option for needs user name and password . Add you aol details there and in theory you should connect. Ive not tried this btw so im assuming aol works like others (knowing aol it may be different)

and to the forum

Try setting it to PPPoA mode instead - might work.
