Re: remote desktop using ethernet cable

yup, same as you would normally - when you connect, just use the computer name as the remote name (or its local IP, which will likely be 192.168.x.x)

Re: remote desktop using ethernet cable

My friend has a mac.
If i connect my windows pc to it via a crossover cable, will the mac be able to share my internet connection?
(at the moment, if i connect any windows laptop to my comp, even for the first time, it shares the internet connection straight away, i don't even have to go to network setup wizard......from which i presume my computer gives out the ip address???)

I've no experience with MAC's but my Linux lappy happily shares the internet connection with my Windoze desktop. I can also access by remote desktop (or Terminal in Ubuntu) the main machine from the lappy too - so my guess would be yes.

Yep if your PC has Internet connection sharing turned on all you'll need to do is plug in the MAC and it'll either work straight away or you'll need to go into the Mac's TCP/IP settings and make sure it is set to automatically pick up IP settings
