hello my name is helen and i wonder if anyone can help me,my computer is downstairs and want to move it upstais.i have a broadband wireless router which is linked to laptop.what i want to do is leave telewest modem downstairs and move computer upstairs, any ideas. thank you
Do you normally connect your computer via a cable to the router and the laptop via the Wireless at the same time? If so you could get a USB Wireless Dongle such as http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Produc...er/6768023.htm <this one would work fine and plug into your PC's USB port.

Which model of broadband wireless router do you have - some of the Netgear ones supplied direct by Telewest only support one wireless connection.
Assuming you do have a compatible wireless router, the excercise should be quite simple. Leave the modem connected to ethernet and the router, all downstairs. Run the lappy wherever you want, as at present by wireless. Get a wireless adaptor for the PC (either as an internal PCI card, or exernal USB unit), install the software for this new adaptor and that should be it.
