DSL Modem not responding

Hi all.

I am connected 1 Meg via a Samsung STB.
Which works fine plugged direct to PC with ethernet lead.

I have plugged my wireless linksys G-WRT54G router into the back of said STB.

Now for some reason it does not show an IP address or a constant DSL lght.
So it's not receiving a signal.

Do I need a cross over lead to feed the router ?
I am using a straight ethernet lead at present.

Thanks for any help.

When you unplugged your existing connection cable between the STB & PC, to add in the router, did you completely switch off the STB at the poser supply as well as computers and router, before swithing all back on with the new configuration. If not, please do so now.

You should only need a straight through cable between STB and router, and again, a straigh lead between router and PC. Connect your PC to the rourter wired, first of all while you check the router is up and running, then and only then get teh wireless setup going.

Re: DSL Modem not responding

As Rob said, you need to power everything off, then boot up the STB, then the router, & finally the PC.

As you use an STB, you also need to register the router with ntl:

Re: DSL Modem not responding

Just the fact that it has a "DSL" light is a worrying thing...

He said it's a Linksys WRT54G...that's a standard wireless cable/DSL router...I use one myself with my ntl connection.
