The protocols used to enable communication between wireless routers and wireless network cards are defined international standards. Therefore, any routers should work with the Airport (equivalent to a 802.11b network card) and Airport express (equivalent to an 802.11g network card) cards.
One thing I found though, When I was first using Wireless security, I used WEP (as that was all Windows could use) and could never get it working on the Mac.
As soon as I could, I switched to WPA, and that works brilliantly on both.
