VNC Help

I'm running two boxes, one with Windows XP Pro and one with Mandrake Linux 10.
I want to remotely connect to the Linux desktop which I can happily do with TightVNC and it works fine, if a little slowly.
My question is, how would I get it to run the VNC server on startup?
Does anyone know how?

I need to be able to turn the Linux box on without any monitor or keyboard and just control it from my XP machine because it's mainly a web server.
____________

BTW - If anyone knows of a better way to remotely log into the Linux desktop then please let me know, I did try cygwin but I couldn't get it to work.
I'm only asking because of the following screenshot, check out the CPU load on X Server!

Re: VNC Help

Run level script maybe? Start the VNC server on boot, stop on shutdown.

Re: VNC Help

I thought of that, the problem is that the server needs you to set a password when you allow access.
Any idea of what I need to do, step by step, Mr Unix guru?

Re: VNC Help

You mean you have to set an access password for when people connect? Is there no way to specify the password on the command line or in a file? Are you starting it as root?

Unix guru? Moi?

Not AFAIK, I'll ask some of the Linux guys in work and see what they say.

Re: VNC Help

Looks like the password thingy for Apache. I knew there'd be something - always is with open source
