Changed Username + Webspace
I made my own web page, however, i didnt like my user name. I changed the original username, but I want the webspace to be in the new user name. however, i can only access the webspace in the old user name, and that is what the address of the site is... any ideas people? im going to kill it off if i cant use the new username.

Re: Changed Username + Webspace
I think you will have to contact Ntl CS to alter your username/password. Not sure but I don't think you can do it online.
Edit, just spotted your first post.. to nthellworld.co.uk
Jim.

What I meant was you can change your username for email etc online, but you have to use the original username/password for your webspace. That can only be changed by Ntl CS AFAIK.

Re: Changed Username + Webspace
This is how it hapens:
New username will be bongo.
Old was telly.
You changed the username so you email address is now bongo. Webspace is still telly.
To change the webspace to bongo there must be no other records of bongo on the server. The email address of bongo is deleted.
The webspace is then changed from telly to bongo.
The email address bongo is then re-created after the webspace.
A frequent problem is that the webspace change fails and needs input by server engineers, so i'd call TS rather than CS.

Re: Changed Username + Webspace
Thanks, i had no idea it was this hard work... the ntl website tells you nothing in any detail... why cant they have a proper help/faq page instead of just coaxing you into downloading a ftp client that you will need to pay for in 30 days? oh well i'll see what i can do. thanks.

Re: Changed Username + Webspace
I have uploaded a blank txt document to your webspace to test it and it works no problem
try
ftp://username:password@upload.ntlworld.com in your favourite browser and then drag & drop to upload/download

the whole 'webspace' issue is more complicated than many imagine.
ntl webspace is fine for running simple websites and as a 'repository' for links to files.
more than that you need to get signed up with a 'proper' domain for your requirements - the host for this site, for example - check out the deals for nthw members, Tuesday might be a bad day to try, though.
