Proxies vanished?
Recently my proxes for NTL have seemed to have disappeared. In the last 2 weeks I've not had any proxies detected on my connection.
Today my IP was changed after the 6 month cycle and again no proxy has been detected with this change - have they just gone?

Re: Proxies vanished?
hi
if you are usually routed via the Nottingham proxies, then yes, they have been off, recently. I doubt this is a permanent move, though, as far as I know Nottingham is one of the biggest proxy server clusters on the network, and I can't see them just switching all that off, for good.?

Dam, theres me getting my hopes up!
Is there any reason for them being off in Nottingham at the moment?

Re: Proxies vanished?
i wish they would switch those proxies off here, browsing was so much better a few years ago when they temporarily did.

no idea, I'm afraid, interestingly if I set a Nottingham proxy on port 8080, it works, but the 'normal' transparent caching of port 80, is turned off ...??

Re: Proxies vanished?
I've been told by NTL that they are not going to get rid of proxies.

The proxies themselves are alive and well, the forced routing of port 80 via them was turned off in Nottingham the other week (Jul 11th IIRC). I have no idea why, but long may it continue.

I noticed that my Gran in Grimsby wasnt going via a proxy yesterday and she lives in Grimsby. I hope they don't come back on.

Re: Proxies vanished?
Just out of interest, can anyone get this page on Yahoo:
http://uk.yahoo.com/r/ty/18/pt
I can't and am in the Nottingham NG17 area. I've tried another proxy like leeds, cardiff and belfast and each one cannot connect to that page? Is this a proxy issue with Nottingham or a Yahoo problem?
