Mailer-daemon

Hello

For the past few weeks, I have been receiving mail, a couple of times a week from MAILER-DAEMON stating:-

**message you sent blocked by our bulk e-mail filter**

There is also a .dat attachment.

I went into >file>properties for some clues.
(I do not really understand how to identify whoever is using my e-mail address from the information in properties.)
The latest one, today, contained the words 'adultemailgreetings'
The main body of the message is in some form of code and is gobbledyguck, so I do not know what the message is.

I have done a full virus scan and scan with Spybot S&D and AdAware SE and all is clear.

I am just a little concerned that it is my e-mail address that is present when I have not sent the original.

Up to now I have deleted all of these e-mails.

Can anyone please help or advise.

Many thanks

Re: Mailer-daemon

i've had these before and it's a scam

it's designed to make you thik something you sent didn't get delivered and then when you click the .dat file to see the mail that wasn't sent you end up with a virus going on your machine

i'd just bin it

Re: Mailer-daemon

Just ignore them. Spam email is generally 'spoofed' and impossible to trace. Your email has been 'harvested' and is being used as the spoofed sender - nothing you can do I'm afraid.
If it annoys you, you could get a new 'clean' email address and junk the spammed one (unless it's your main NTL/ISP account).

Re: Mailer-daemon

Thank you both for replying, yes it is my main ntl/isp account.

I will just continue to delete. Just wanted to make sure whether I needed to take any action other than deleting.

Many thanks
