Emails not getting through?
I thought my email service was OK because I get at least 1 email per day from a website I have an account with. Recently a forum (on another, unrelated site) I am a member of changed its software and all members had to reregister, so I did that. When I finished the registration procedure, a message said an email would arrive soon for me to activate my registration. So I waited for it to arrive...and it never did. So I sent an email to the webmaster asking why it hadn't arrived.
Then today I decided to look at my webmail on the ntl website (I usually get my email through Thunderbird instead of Outlook Express).....and there was the email as well as others I hadn't received. Because I had missed the email my account has been deleted and now I will have to register again.
So why haven't my emails been getting through? (I don't think it's because I use Thunderbird rather than Outlook Express.)

it seems weird that some mail gets through & some stays on the server - have you got any filters set up, either in Thunderbird, or the spam settings on the NTL maibox??

Re: Emails not getting through?
Yes, I've set up a lot of filters, but none of them is set to block emails.
And I changed the spam settings today.
Any more ideas?

I took it that the mail isn't being 'blocked', just not being downloaded into the Thunderbird inbox, which is why I wondered if one of the filters could cause that

Well, there are several "Delete..." options in the Filter Rules dialogue box, but all my filters move messages to the appropriate folders in my mailbox, so we can rule out filters as the culprit in this case
Keep the ideas coming....

I have mine as 'forward & delete' , but the forward is to my Gmail account, as well as the normal (Outlook Express) inbox, it shouldn't be too different with Thunderbird??
<edit> and thinking about it, leave on server may mean your inbox is full? - check the 'trash' is empty, too?
- just ideas, no more

Well, my inbox only has about 25 emails in it because I filter mail by who has sent it, and it then goes to the relevant folder - the inbox is for the unfiltered mail. That's what I was talking avbout in my earlier posts.
My trash has 2 emails, but they are EMPTY - sort of spamish.

Re: Emails not getting through?
the trash messages may look empty, but are they 'really' taking space that isn't being properly detected? Can you empty your trash folder?

I didn't have time to do that last night, but I did it today.
I have also created an identity in Outlook Express to find out whether it's Thunderbird, or just ntl's email servers causing the problem.

Re: Emails not getting through?
I've checked my test identity in Outlook Express, and I got all my messages since February 2006. The ones which I never got in Thunderbird turned up in OE, which makes me think it may be a Thunderbird bug. I am going to investigate this further.

Re: Emails not getting through?
Have you tried the Mozilla forums on Thunderbird. It might help.I've always used Thunderbird and Firefox without hardly any trouble. But I go to the forums when I've had trouble. It helps.
