Can somebody help me out?

I get this message when I want to register on a bittorent site through my NTL connection what can i do to resolve this

You appear to be connecting through a proxy server. Your organization or ISP may use a transparent caching HTTP proxy. Note: if you run an Internet-accessible web server on the local machine you need to shut it down until the sign-up is complete.

Please help!1

Re: Can somebody help me out?

You probably are connecting through a proxy server if you have an ntl internet connection, jay_bgl. AFAIK other ntl users are on bittorrent without this being a problem - don't use bittorrent myself, though.

There's no way you can connect without a proxy, although you can specify a different one. Does this prevent you registering, or are they saying you can't register because of it?

Re: Can somebody help me out?

they mean I can't register because of it . I have noticed this on sites where they mention they would be scanning ports and I also found this mentioned on their site
t is our policy not to allow accounts to be opened or used from behind a proxy. If your ISP is directing your Internet communications through a proxy (port 80 in particular), ask them if they can exclude your account from using the proxy. If they can't or won't allow your account to operate without going through a proxy, your only option (if you wish to use BitMe) is to obtain an account with an ISP that does not send your Internet communications through a proxy.

Is their any way I can bypass this. Thanx for your reply I appreciate it.

the only thing I can think of, is to try setting your proxy as explicit & using port 8080, explained here

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/robin.d...trancache.html

otherwise you are stuffed, NTL won't be turning off their proxies for the forseeable.
