microsoft download link whats your speed?

downloading this video last 3 hours and currently at 10kB thinking ms getting pounded then gave the link to my friend who isnt on ntl and he gets 240kb taking the **** out of me.

what speeds do you guys get please.

But then I've never had any problems downloading from microsoft.

A steady 240 KB/ s here, NTL 2MB service in the Teesside area, sure you've got nothing interferring

Proxies don't affect download speeds from memory.

ok thanks guys, no my connection was otherwise idle.

neil the download goes through the proxy so it can affect speeds, as I got an instant speed increase when changing to colc-6.

Surprise, surprise! Tried downloading the link, got just over 10K, using Firefox. Then I noticed Bill C's screenshot and noticed he was using IE. Opened IE and tried it.

You've guessed already, haven't you? 240+K...

I tried in ie but it loaded wmp I will try it again when I can do save as.

But I am fairly sure in my case was hitting bad proxies since I was able to get the fast speed in the same browser different proxy.

Yeh, but then it's in the proxy-cache so would be faster.

I usually get 360kB for downloads but I have seen it drop to 220kB.

Not on a proxy. Nor was it in my own cache, because I let the IE download get much farther than the FF one had got, and it was still as fast.
