Downstream traffic management between 3 and 4 PM?

I'm on the 20 Mbps tier and downstream traffic management used to only affect me between 10 AM and 3 PM, and 4 PM and 9 PM, which is in line with what it says on VM's site: -

http://help.virginmedia.com/system/s...RTICLE_ID=2781

Just recently though, it's also affecting me between the hour of 3 PM and 4 PM.

This sucks because what used to be this: -

10 AM - 3 PM = 7 GB
3 PM - 4 PM = No limit
4 PM - 9 PM = 3.5 GB

Is now basically this: -

10 AM - 9 PM = 7 GB

Is this a fault, or have VM changed their policy without updating their website?

if you breach that 7gb just right on 2:59pm dnt forget your clock could say 3pm but virign sevre coudl say 2:57pm , if you breach it you will be traffic managed for 5 hour which woudl include 3-4pm, wha ti suggest is to make sure you dnt donwload until 3:10pm then any chance of clock being different should b reduce quite a lot i cant see your clock and virign clock being out by more than 5 minutes

they of course could be trialing new stm rules but it is hard to say

Re: Downstream traffic management between 3 and 4 PM?

I got STM'ed while downloading during Happy Hour (3 - 4).

I'm on 30meg BTW.

I'm sick of all VM's restictions on their unlimited service, especially as they don't even bother to comply with the conditions they set.

Thanks for the reply, but I don't think it's the clock being out. The other day I waited until dead on 3 PM before starting downloading something and the download speed was 18-19 Mbps for about 25-30 minutes and then my connection speed was cut by 75% for 5 hours. It does suggest that the 3.5 GB evening limit now starts at 3 PM instead of 4. If it is because their clock is out, it's well out!

EDIT - I just got a reply from a mod on the official VM forums about this: -

Hi Sigma,

I have checked your connection history and can see that you have been subject to Subscriber Traffic Management on three occasions during February. On two occasions the penalty period started between 3PM and 4PM.

I have re-checked Virgin Media's STM policy (here) which states that your service tier is not subject to penalties between 3PM and 4PM

I have escalated this to the relevant team. We will re-post once we have a reply. In the meantime we apologise for the inconvenience.
Hopefully they'll fix whatever is causing it, because it doesn't sound like their traffic management policy has changed based on that response.

Re: Downstream traffic management between 3 and 4 PM?

If it does change by law they would have to update this on there website.
