E mail account set up on new PC
Help. I have a new PC running Windows 7, and I downloaded and set up Thunderbird, and successfully set up my e mail account(@ntlworld.com). When I came to set up my wife's account(@ntlworld.com) no luck. I keep getting a message saying the usename and/or password aren't recognised(I don't ever remember setting up a separate password for her, the one used for mine as the primary account seemed to work OK in the past). However, her account still seems to function on the laptop, and I copied the settings over to the new PC thinking this would do it, but it didnt.
Also if I try to give her access via webmal on My Virgin Media, by clicking on "ADD ANOTHER POP3 MAIL ACCOUNT YOU OWN" after entering the mail address and hitting next, when I enter the e mail address and password I get "Server denied POP3 access for the given username and password."

Why npt log on to My Virgin media and change the password on her account so you are sure what it is?

Re: E mail account set up on new PC
That's not the problem. As I said she isn't set up on e mail via My Virgin Media, and when I try to add the account I get the second message that I posted. So I can't access her mail either way, the normal way or by webmail.

If her e mail address is xxxx@ntlworld and it is on your account, then you should be able to see it when you log on to My Virgin Media. If you can't see it then it probably belongs to another account.
You could try creating a new e mail account on your My Virgin media and use her address xxxx@ntlworld.com and see if it lets you add it. That will confirm if it's on your account or not.

Re: E mail account set up on new PC
I set up her e mail address years ago so it's definitely mine, otherwise how would it receive mails on the laptop? I have set up a new mail account with her address on My Virgin Media, but I can't sign in as her because the password isn't recognised, and I cannot set up a separate password for her , even when logged in as myself, there is no facility to do this.

In that case, you are not logged on as the account administrator. When you first joined VM, you would have been given an account username with a weird name; mine is something like llnnnlnnnn@ntlworld.com where l are letters and n numbers. You need this and the password to log on, this then gives you access to all e mail accounts and allows you to change passwords without knowing the old ones. If you can't remember the account details, you need to call CS for help.
