Post Mobile Email

Hi

I wanted to see if I could access my Blueyonder email account from my phone.

I've added the Blueyonder account in to the GMail app, and it seems to have worked, in that it accepted my username and password, however, I'm not sure if it's actually working or not. The screen is just stuck at "Waiting for sync. Your email will appear shortly" but it's been like that for a while now.

Does this work or am I being daft ?

If there is a way to make this work I'd be greatful.

Cheers, Tali.

Re: Mobile Email

It's a HTC Desire with Android 2.3.

I've used the primary email address and my email password to try and log in.

Re: Mobile Email

I used to have an HTC Desire and it worked fine with my blueyonder email account, although I don't think I set it up via a GMail App. I'm fairly sure it was just set up via the main menu then accounts or something like that. I don't have the phone anymore so can't check the exact sequence.

Re: Mobile Email

I've set it up as a 'Google' account through the Accounts and Sync menu.

Maybe this is where I am going wrong. Should i be setting it up through the normal mail app? Should it be set up as IMAP or something.

Basically, I want to be able to use Outlook to download the emails to on my PC, but use my phone to check for emails through out the day.

-----

Got this working through the HTC Mail app where it works as POP3. But to have this work as I want, does it need to be IMAP? Will check it when I get home to see what happens.

Re: Mobile Email

Looks like this was a lot of fuss over nothing. Using the HTC Mail app and the default settings, letting the app determine the server settings, it seems that everything is working how I want

Hope this helps someone else looking to do the same.

Re: Mobile Email

The difference between POP and IMAP from what I could see is that IMAP will replicate between mobile and server, for example deleting email on mobile deletes off server, whereas POP will just push the email and it will still be on the server. I'm sure it's more complicated than this but that's how I used it.
