e-mail access issues ?
All Im getting atm is a connection error 421, connection refused. Error 0x800ccc0f.
This is sending, not receiving.

VM were having some network issues. I don't know if that was the cause.

Don't know if this is the same problem?
Sending of message failed.
The message could not be sent because the connection to SMTP server smtp.ntlworld.com timed out. Try again or contact your network administrator.
I can receive emails OK.

Still not working, I can receive e-mails, just can't send them.

There is no time lag, it flags up as soon as I hit send.
Nothing has been altered at this end.

If you are using port 465 with smtp.ntlworld.com then it will not work as it has to be smtp.virginmedia.com if using SSL.

Changed settings and it is now working, someone must have switched me off last night.

As I said, I have not altered any settings for ages, changed the smtp server to virginmedia.com and its now working.

I've been using SSL on this server (and smtp.virgin.net) for the best part of a year now without significant problems.
Though over the past couple of days there's been some intermttant server unavailable errors. Maybe a legacy of the major problems elsewhere?

Yeah i had exactly the same issue today for the first time. Working perfectly on Ntlworld smtp until now. Couldn't send so used gmail to send.Then tried your method of changing to virginmedia. It worked.Yet i have been using ntlworld smtp on ssl all this time. So why has it stopped now all of a sudden?

I've had to use authentication on the smtp with my full ntlworld address and password with the virginmedia smtp. Then it worked.

Try using SSL, port 465 and smtp.virginmedia.com.

I don't have a valid username on virginmedia.com All my usernames are either ntlworld.com or virgin.net hence the use of those smtp servers.
The smtp.virgin.net one is useful as it's accessable through my vodafone 3G dongle for sending mail when I'm away from the BB.

The problem with that is it leaves a copy in your web interface sent items folder.
port 465 with SSL from smtp.ntlworld.com has been glitchy the past few days for me although it's seems to be working again now.
