Problem with 123 reg webmail

Hi all,
hope this is the right category and someone might be able to help (if you can understand the question)!
We already have an email account with 123 reg (webmail) and have no problems.
We have just set up another email account for a different website and are having problems!
With this new account i can send emails to any email account.
To receive emails i have only tried the other accounts we have ie webmail, gmail and NTL.
It seems that NTL is the only one that will not 'send' an email to this new webmail/ email account.
We have spoken to 123 reg who say the problem is with NTL,contact them!
Considering we can send a NTL email to our older existing webmail email without problem could this be right?
Their answer just doesn't ring true to me,but i do have little knowledge
Thanks

Re: Problem with 123 reg webmail

Even if no-body can answer this, can anyone give me an email address or phone number to contact at NTL who can state whether it is a problem at NTL or someone else!
Thanks.

Re: Problem with 123 reg webmail

I doubt there is an easy answer to this. Virgin Media's broadband customer support or faults are likely to say that it's a 123 configuration issue that they don't support and vice versa.

Disable any antispam type checking on the 123 mail account and see what happens in case somehow it is on a blacklist.

Have you got authentication enabled on the ntl account?

I sent mine using the webmail. Do you get any error mesage? I will attempt to send one from my phone and see if anything different happens

I tried but when I validate the account it complains that I dont support any of the authentication methods. I tried sending a email from the phone using a virginmedia.com address and that goes which means at least one server is working on gmail. I would vote for authentication being your problem.

Re: Problem with 123 reg webmail

I use 123reg as a forwarder and sometimes emails just disappear or are delayed like crazy.

It seems that because 123reg is a registrar as well as hosting they get lots of mail sent through them and some ISP's can erroneously flag them as spammers. Well that's what the 123reg help pages say anyway.

These may not be related but it is a symptom I have noted. If I could bother I'd repoint the MX records to my real web hosting and let them forward my emails. (I do this so we as parents get copies of the kid's emails which at their age I think is OK, as they get older we'll remove this.)

Re: Problem with 123 reg webmail

What POP and SMTP address have you got set up in your account settings?

If you are setting up an account on Outlook (for example) to send and receive messages through the Virgin Media server (NTL), then you may need to check these.

123 should be able to give you the POP and SMTP settings.
