SMTP server time out
Getting frequent errors when trying to send emails through Thunderbird.

"The message could not be sent because the connection to SMTP server smtp.ntlworld.com timed out. Try again or contact your network administrator."

Any suggestions?

Sorry can't help atm, but I was having the same timed out prob receiving mail yesterday. Now it's gone further -

Task 'ntlworld.com - Receiving' reported error (0x800CCC90) : 'Your incoming (POP3) e-mail server has reported an internal error. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP). The server responded: -ERR Cannot connect to POP server
I forward all my mails to Outlook. Am now totally confused

Also had this problem with ntlworld last night. Receive mail ok, but sending mail took several attempts.

Also had the problem intermittently yesterday, error was that the server was refusing requests.

Had to switch my ntl account(s) over to my virgin.net smtp server. Switched back this morning and it seems OK now.
