550 index.htm: Permission denied

I have had my website for years and never had any problems either uploading or downloading. I use Ipswitch ws ftp
Lately when I try I can connect OK and all my files are there but when I try to upload anything I get failed and the above message. I can download the files from the site but not upload. I also tried with Filezilla and got the same thing.

Have you reported this to Virgin?

Its to do with the link between your account and the server holding the files.

Give them a shout and get it raised, its a quick fix.

I was on to 151 yesterday for about 1/2 hour. He eventually suggested that it might be my ntl account that was causing the problem and suggested I got a virgin address just for the website. I did this and tried to change the address. It warned me that I would have to upload again but the Virgin page came up as having a problem at the time and to try later. When I checked with the FTP all the files had gone, but I was able to upload them now still using my ntl account.
Tried again this morning and it is still working OK, so everything is back to normal. Still don't know what caused the problem as I have had the site for at least 8 years with no trouble.

you're re-synced it, not a great bit of advise there ..
